Do something different when something hits the public domain I beg of you

The horror thing wore off after Winnie the Pooh

  • Yea this s***'s lame as hell

  • They had this in production and were waiting for Mickey Mouse to be public domain… doesn’t really sit well with me

People always s*** on these but it’s like why not just simply ignore them. It’s ultimately so much better that nonsense like this is allowed to get made instead of the evil mega corporation continuing to have a stranglehold over their IP. It’s really easy to just not watch a bunch of lazy dumb Tubi horror movies. There’s a million Amityville flicks or dumb Jaws rip-offs that we all pretend don’t exist. We can do that with these and still be happy Disney no longer can prevent this from happening. It’s not about what junk gets made—it’s that they’re able to be made at all which is good.

regarding the mickey mousetrap one, am i stupid for thinking that still absolutely infringes on the mickey mouse copyright? the copyright expiry was for steamboat willie, which yes is the earliest mickey mouse but it's not really mickey mouse ya feel? it feels like mickey mousetrap is using a more modern version ultimately idgaf about any of this but i feel like they're really tempting litigation with that one

Had this same thought but maybe they'll be ok bc isn't the the short that entered the public domain titled "Mickey Mouse as Steamboat Willie"

  • it’s funny Disney would ultimately be nothing without the public domain yet they couldn’t stand the idea of any of their characters becoming part of it
