Funny because now Activision games are no longer guaranteed on these cloud services . Microsoft had long term deals in place with a ton of them which gives ample enough time to grow their own services

Consumers don’t benefit from this in any form or fashion

"Cloud gaming needs a free, competitive market to drive innovation and choice"
    How is this unreasonable?

Cause there is a competitive market WHICH IS ALSO AVAILABLE FOR FREE (nvidia) which microsoft already signed deals with. also playstation has their own cloud gaming service

Cloud gaming is a 180 billion dollar industry

Tbh the decision is based, these big mergers and acquisitions are peak capitalism, but if the only reasoning they found to block the deal was the possibility in a distant future of ms dominating the cloud gaming market thats very funny

You're right tbh. The decision actually has nothing to do with cloud gaming - we all know that

I'm curious how the appeal will go + how Activision's relationship with Sony will continue

This was the funniest iteration of antitrust laws to me

Edit: "MicroVision blocked over impact on gamers" would have been a sensational headline

“ In relation to cloud gaming services, we found that Microsoft already has a strong position. It owns a popular gaming platform (Xbox and a large portfolio of games), the leading PC operating system (Windows), and a global cloud computing infrastructure (Azure and Xbox Cloud Gaming), giving it important advantages in running a cloud gaming service. With an estimated 60-70% market share in global cloud gaming services, it is already much stronger than its rivals.”

Directly from the CMA report… they are already 60-70% of the market share

Ain’t no way ur going to bat for a corporate entity
