MS is attempting to BUY the competition

they would still be last place in the console market

in the cloud gaming market which is why this actually got blocked they are the only ones besides like NVIDiA and out of country companies where they already signed licensing deals

    whose fault is that

THEY WILL STILL BE LAST PLACE IN THE IMAGINARY CONSOLE WAR CALM DOWN

Who cares about the console wars bro

Just have every game on every console

This is going to get so much worse when there are no multi-platform games & it ends up very similarly to the streaming wars in the TV realm

you do realize that both companies have continued this cycle and this is how we got here. The Sony timed exclusives added up to eventually microsoft is going to do something. Microsoft has tried timed exclusives or permanent exclusives with s*** like Tomb Raider. Lol everyone got mad. Sony has done so many marketing deals of exclusive modes, fully exclusive, dont come to gamepass ever, come to pc and xbox a year to 2 years to 3 years later. Eventually Microsoft was going to do something about parity

it already is the streaming wars.....

you buy a box for what exclusives it has and its ecosystem

if you have another box or cable provider that can provide the experiences like a pc you play there

third party games both companies secure exclusive deals with so you buy their box or their ecosystem

Call of Duty who gives a flying f*** most people are on warzone not the yearly releases. Warzone I can assure you in all likely hood would come to all consoles no matter what happens for the microtransactions .

This affects us in no way .

Final Fantasy XVI being exclusive effects me more than call of duty and most people that care about recent games.

Even the CMA openly says the deal benefits consumers

They just cried about irrelevant cloud gaming and got out their crystal balls and tried to predict what would happen 15 years from now. The only reason they blocked it was based on cloud gaming what ifs

  • May 17, 2023

I really don't understand the sentiment of 'THEY CANT KEEP DOING EXCLUSIVES WE ALL WANT TO PLAY THE GAMES'

when sony sitting there like "your ps4 accessories don't work with ps5, we bought evo, timed exclusives and marketing deals, we aren't fully backwards compatible buy the game again, we got exclusive 70$ remakes"

1 is day and date with pc

the other is dropping a last of us pc port 12 years later and blaming a small studio for the port when it was worked on by naughty dog

Getting all the s*** activision is dropping for one standard subscription fee vs buying outright helps consumers

the idea of "there will be no third party games" or "too many subscriptions " when EA Play, Ubisoft + both exist already is baffling

    YOU ARE LATE s***s changed

COD is a far bigger IP than Final Fantasy has ever been, it's not at all even factual to think the exclusivity of those two IPs would even be in the same ballpark.

I'd expect COD to remain on all platforms as is anyway though

  • How is a trillion-dollar-company buying up smaller companies to make their games exclusive to a platform, subscription, or streaming service a BENEFIT to the consumer?

They care about their bottom line, not the consumer

google ‘capitalism’ idk if y’all have heard of it

Someone please tell me how the consumer benefits from a multi-platform game going exclusive?

  • Remember when TLOP released exclusively on Tidal and Blonde dropped exclusively on Apple Music?

How was that benefiting the consumer?

Gamepass is PC as well as Xbox. Gamepass has over 25 million subscribers

Call of duty and hundreds of other games for “free” for 25 million+ sounds like a win to me

And then on top of that Microsoft has committed to continuing to make CoD available on other platforms (PlayStation, cloud services, even the damn switch) for the next 10 years so people that don’t have gamepass can still play elsewhere if they want

How is it not a huge win for us?

Far bigger to casuals yes . How does a casual subscribing to gamepass to stream call of duty to their phone , fridge , Tesla , computer , Xbox series s , Xbox series x , Xbox usb streaming effect you ? How is that inaccessible or ruining the market vs exclusives that come to one location

Lol I can play every persona game for 10$ right now a month .

  • May 17, 2023

This is only a loss of you want to pay for call of duty and own it . Even then call of duty with all the technology present at Microsoft will improve and better overall management

When the comparison is the two as exclusives then obviously the bigger selling one would be more impactful to people

paying a subscription fee to play a game is a W to y’all?

What happens when they raise the prices?

Y’all are so shortsighted and uniformed.
