OG Xbox One Design
Pre-Owned games being disregarded
Xbox One only being able to function with Kinect.
One of the biggest disasters from a big firm in recent memory which still haunts them (to a certain degree) they made Sony washing them so easy during this period. The fact they were going to get rid of physical media all together and pre-owned games market would be redundant is one of the most out of touch, nonsensical, and greed fueled loaded bs i've ever seen a company take actively making their product inaccessible.
Windows 8 looked like trash and operated like garbage one of the ugliest looking OS oat and to me it still gonna be a while until we see something that tops how grotesque it was on the eye.
Xbox One S and X were huge upgrades in terms of aesthetics, functionality, and playback. the OG Xbox One is one of the ugliest things ever invented s*** looked like a VCR/Betamax from the 80s.
Kinect was just them jumping on the wii bandwagon and it never took off and the fact they insisted on it being vital aspect of the Xbox One was laughable.
I wish them the best in the future and Windows 11 looks like a step in the right direction, but we must not forget the mistakes of the past.
Microsoft has had some terrible products outside those years but yeah that was peak MS failure years
their first big f*** up was Windows ME, it was an unstable tranwreck and Vista had very similar issues
I'd definitely argue those 2 OSes were far worse than 8.. like Vista would crash so much for me early on. I remember Nvidia Control Panel would nuke the entire OS every 30 minutes, I had to go back to XP lol
I have no faith in Microsoft for Windows 11, I use their cloud products for my Job and their always inferior to AWS, Google etc
unless you just wanna run a Windows server
you will always run into weird issues that waste your time
all of this stuff started in 2012-2013 though
Windows 7 and Xbox 360 weren't that bad and lived until 2011

I think the only good thing from that era was the microsoft word/office redesign in like 2012 or 2013

Why even use word when WordPad exists tbh
Also Windows Phone flopped around those years
Wasn't even that bad, just didn't have a good plan to attract the developers tbh

I think every student gets microsoft office for free with any college account in my state lmao
plus all online documents and work assigned, is in word
Windows 8 wasn’t that bad tbh, got better with Windows 8.1 too
If you don’t like the UI, it’s one thing, but I don’t remember it being a buggy mess like Vista was

it was bad bro, they tried to bring a mobile ui onto a desktop
it legit didn’t feel like it was made for functionality and more on the side of media and touchscreen activity
can’t do that to desktop systems

Wordpad doesnt have as many formatting options
