definitely feels good to hear this type of music from the weeknd compared to some of his pop hits that are being played to exhaustion everywhere

My reaction to every Mike Dean project (besides Echoplex which I like a bit more) is always that on paper I should love it, but in practice it just doesn’t click the way I wish it would. The vocal textures are a nice change of pace, but most of this ironically felt uninspired as hell given the theme. This coming from someone who plays and loves synths; lowkey there was one song where it literally just sounded like him tuning and defining an oscillator for a few mins and… power to him, but not my vibe lol
