Had to bump the thread and share this passage from a book I'm reading.
My accident really shook up my brain and it's been interesting watching it settle again. It's landed on gratitude this time. For the most simple of things. Walking, breathing, having vision, taste, etc.
I've never felt more continuously happy and mindful in my life i don't think. Funny how trauma can actually shine a light on everything else in your life that is beautiful.

No Mud, No Lotus
I mean that’s life for most people, and not because they necessarily crave it.
Don't even get me started on the oppression of the masses. this just ain't that type of thread.
Been meaning to sell my closet and buy back into only a few pieces to wear as a uniform

Give it a shot tbh. I kind of unintentionally did something like that. I don't have a strict uniform but more or less a small capsule wardrobe that has like 2-3 different styles. As few pieces as possible as well. Took my early 20s to figure out the styles but yeah. I only really buy a piece of two a year now and focus on mending what i already own.
I think it's useful to go minimal with clothing especially if you a fashion sxn type. Can get blinded by the hype and constant flexing.
My fiancé is always getting on me to buy more clothes and shoes for myself
Lot of my wardrobe is 5 years old and she’s trying to replace stuff. Parents raised me to wear the hell out of clothes

I think keeping clothing for as long as possible is the right thing to do. Provided you take care of the stuff just a little bit items can last a long time and not look aged or dirty. And so what if some of your clothing looks a bit aged? That's a whole aesthetic tbh.
Most of my clothes are from like 2015-2017 when i was first honing my style.
Annoying that your girl is pushing you to buy new and toss old stuff. It's understandable, that's what media pushes people to do with trends and everything.

I find it funny cause she tells me to buy new clothes but then takes me thrifting to buy used

LOL
Well honestly good on her. I always try and buy used/vintage just to contribute less to the exploiting of workers and to keep an old item from just getting trashed. But unless you have a local curated vintage shop (one in my city shut down when covid hit ) then it's such a time sink to check thrift stores frequently because usually there's just nothing good at them lol. But occasionally you'll find a nice diamond in the rough

I know real little about thrifting but maybe I should look into it. Maybe I should research some curated shops in NY and see what’s up.
I usually buy 100% of my wardrobe from Uniqlo unless it’s dress clothes. I’m not sure if it’s sourced ethically tho

Qlo could be worse, also could be better. In terms of style and fit it's hard to do better for the price tho I'll admit that. Heck i just ordered some more easy shorts to supplement the two I got like 4 years ago. Being able to rotate items more frequently helps them age much better and last longer leading to less use in the long run.
