a lot of people said it wouldn't be a thing by next year in 2020, but here we are in 2021 and one of the biggest songs out rn features two huge artists rapping over a heavy synth-infused beat
basically what I'm wondering is, how does ktt2 feel about this? Trippie's whole album will be like this, and Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely (Opium signees) and the producer collective Hyperpop.jp (Starboy, Outtatown, Gab3) are also pushing this wave. Will it continue to blow up big time? Or will it just be a one off thing? Do you think more big artists will attempt this?
There's also people like Ericdoa and Glaive (Midwxst too) who are pushed into this umbrella term that have been blowing up and are about to be heavily promoted by their labels. imo I think were about to see the next batch of mainstream artists with longevity like 2016 brought us (Uzi, Carti, etc.)
You mean the genre or the producer collective?
Because you’re wrong on both fronts
If this is true it's a huge L for the hyperpop genre and every hyperpop artist that Trippie Redd and that weak ass verse is what put them on
I'm pretty sure Charlie XCX did it first but this one probably the most attention.
if that songs suppose to be hyperpop its the first good one ive heard from that genre
are Future & Uzi not mainstream anymore?
!https://youtu.be/K2Iza0VA3bAthis didnt blow up
the sound will rise we already got drake on that type of beat (kinda) on What’s Next so there’s so much potential for it to hit the mainstream
neither has Miss The Rage
i’d disagree
i’d disagree
it could blow up relatively soon
but it hasn’t blown up yet
it only came out 4 days ago

i referenced both in OP. and it's an umbrella term like I mentioned. and idk has there been a bigger song like this before? There's been Astrid and I don't want that many friends in the first place but nothing like this before.
only other thing that comes to mind is What's Next but that's just Drake doing a Carti impression

I mean I GET what you're saying, but I think MTR and What's Next both tote the line of Trap too heavy to really be considered "Hyperpop."
I do think those kinds of songs can lead to something more Hyperpop influenced becoming big though.
