As involved as i am in this story i really don’t understand how it blew up so much

    Cause of the lore tbh.

They named it TITAN which is a ship in a book that predicted titanic sinking 14 years to it happening

    also this

"...if you go look into the Titanic's story, you'll find there's some similarities. Namely corners cut on design, catering to the rich, little to no plan for when things go wrong, people voicing concerns before the incident that were ignored."

Definitely bro i know the type you're talking about and i don't fw em

But the "online leftist armchair communist" bs that right wingers are on is just used to descredit leftism in general, they don't make that distinction

And as much as i dislike those types of online leftists, i also don't wanna throw all leftists who arent active irl under the bus like that either tbh. I didn't get involved with organizing irl immediately after radicalizing either, and it's not that my principles changes and got active later because of that. There are other factors

The way most people in the past got active is because they knew people irl who were in organizations, those organizations were destroyed. The legacy of cointelpro, operation gladio and the Jakarta method for my third world kings is still felt to this day. You don't get into spontaneous interactions with leftists who are active like that rn as much. Which is how i eventually became an organizer

I mean not just that but there's a lot of sacrifice that goes into leftist organizing. It's unpaid work first of all we don't get those bourgeois funds. A lot of people also put their job on the line getting involved in many instances, i certainly did organizing protests against my employer lol.

It's not easy out here and that argument can mostly just be dismissed as a reactionary cheapshot by people who unironically don't know how leftist organizing works irl

    Lou

    Oh but it does

    Not at all

Lemme reiterate that there’s a massive difference between millionaires and billionaires. The average middle class American will earn well over $1M on an average salary in their lifetime. Hard, uniquely valuable work by one individual to earn even $100M is perfectly possible in one lifetime without truly unethical means.

Now multiply that by a factor of 100 and you can see how things get dicey. What job can you think of that will genuinely EARN the worth of 1,000 individuals in one lifetime? What about 234,000 individuals, as is the case for Elon Musk? It sure as s*** doesn’t come unless you’ve developed an empire below you. And not just any empire; you have to have a Twitter or Amazon or Facebook below you.

What’s an interesting commonality of those three major companies? Their worth has completely relative value. Their burn is based on server costs, and warehousing in Amazon’s case, but what’s the actual product? For Amazon, it’s distribution of the goods that smaller companies work to build. Why is Amazon the major distributor? Because they’ve choked out the competition by minimizing margins and employee compensation.

What about Facebook and Twitter? Their product is us. Their data is leveraged for ad dollars and sold as a zero-cost resource. And on top of that, they leverage algorithms and interfaces that hijack social personality traits to convince us to give over our time and attention. I think, at the very least, each of those are of questionable ethics. They actively crush our marketplace of goods in Amazon’s case or of ideas/communication in FB/Twitter’s case in pursuit of maximized profits for those running the corporations.

And guess what? For every Bezos that genuinely had a hand in the building of the company, there’s an Elon born into wealth who buys his way in and experiences exponential growth from a starting point none of us could ever attain with hard work. And for every Elon whose narcissistic personality drives him to force himself into the cultural sphere, there are hundreds more who hide in the shadows. Plenty of those are behind companies like Blackrock, whose speculative investments are currently f***ing over our housing inventory to further concentrate wealth.

Notice how I’ve not mentioned theft? Even Blackrock isn’t stealing our homes. They’re buying power to exert market pressure in their favor, and that’s what’s unethical. Hoarded wealth means power to shift the world unilaterally, and that’s unethical. Nothing was stolen, but plenty was exploited. So, no, “personal property is theft” is not a reasonable a***og to what I’m discussing. That’s a strawman to discredit my point that hoarded wealth is unethical.
