Back in July, I had received a DM from SLAM magazine asking me to stop selling and creating the basketball short, and that a possible collaboration could be an option but they would have to be involved. It was a tag on IG from a high profile athlete that caught their attention. I then hopped on the owner of SLAM to talk out a potential collab. He had mentioned there were other projects they were working on first before we could get to anything, and due to licensing at the moment would possibly have to bring Mitchell and Ness on since they have the licensing rights at the time.

After sending out some samples, I was emailed back saying they liked what they seen and they were really dope, but had some projects upcoming first before we could do any kind of collab, and that we can touch base maybe in a few months and see what can happen. Yesterday, I get a DM from a friend saying "Mitchell and Ness took your idea" I opened the tagged photo, and he was correct, SLAM had went ahead with a collab with Mitchell and Ness using my all over collage print for a collab, as well as an all over print basketball of their own and used the same print for promo on a Bus back in NY this summer.

It's honestly not about the money. I don't care about that part. It was more of having an idea and a concept that I was proud of and that people enjoyed and were impressed with. I just wanted the credit to be taken seriously. But honestly, I'm not too bothered by it. After years involved with this and seeing the same things happen to other brands and creatives, I guess that's just the game. To quote Omar from The Wire ..."All in the game.."

lawyer up as early as possible
get things documented and in writing
create an LLC and trademark your name
use legal zoom or something similar if you can't yet afford a lawyer
create NDAs for any and all meetings discussing your work
