Thread inspired by this moment of acting from the legendary Geena Davis in Ridley Scott’s Thelma & Louise:
Something about her expression and eyes and the lighting makes this hit so hard it feels a little…too real (in a good way?) It borders on documentary, and hits even harder in the context of the character up until the moment.
But what are some moments like this for you guys?
Yup
getting sore throat whenever I rewatch it on YouTube its that powerful
Can’t find a clip but Brenda Blethyn in Secrets & Lies, especially during the birthday party where she reveals the truth about her firstborn daughter.
All the guilt she feels for keeping it a secret & for not being there for her daughter gets out all at once
Manages to get my eyes misty every time
(a small glimpse of her genius)
This is an odd opinion for some, but I tend to not care about acting very much. Even writing isn’t high on my priority list when it comes to film. It’s a visual medium to me and I often evaluate it based around how its images make me feel. A performers presence is more important in my eyes than their ability to convincingly deliver lines. That being said the processing scene in The Master was so good from both Phoenix and Hoffman—that it may have been the moment that I stopped caring about acting all together because I realized nothing would top it in eliciting a similar reaction out of me.
boring answer but for a good reason these two were on a different level here
Didn’t even see this, but yeah exactly

What do you think of Terrence Malick films
whole scene is incredible but the last minute especially is just a masterclass from both of them
Suge Smith
ive cried to this probably more than any other scene in TV
The R\*pe scene in sopranos usually can stomach most f***ed up s*** in shows or movies but the way melfi's actor did that scene felt so realistic I skip that eps everytime cuz it makes me so sick.

Same that s*** got me sick to my stomach just thinking about it. Apparently the guy in that scene was a emotional wreck afterwards too cuz he was really nice irl and it f***ed him up to do something like that for the camera
