if you aren’t in a disastrous financial position, being a parent is more worth while than whatever the f*** you thought mattered in life. only thing that sucks is the thought of leaving them alone in this world at some point

i don’t like the standard antinatalist argument because there have been several memorable worse periods of history but you sure aren’t glad your ancestors didn’t procreate

I'm the prime candidate to have kids in that I've been with my girl for 10 years and we combine to make low 6 figures. I can't in good conscience bring another life in to this world when I can't be sure that they won't be shot while in class or at the mall or the movies. I can't guarantee they'll have access to proper healthcare or education. That seems selfish to me; bringing someone into this f***ed up circle called life to give myself some joy at the midpoint of this bullshit

  • Humans are causing a reduction in population of basically every contemporary species on earth due to current conditions, why would humans ourselves be exempt

Interestingly Elon appears to believe that all humans past, present, and future, have individual souls (so no reincarnation), that already exist, have always existed in fact, and are alive somewhere, perhaps on a different plane of existence. Human reproduction actually consists of the creation of a physical body to host these souls (reminiscent of Australian Aboriginal beliefs about “spirit children”), and if at a certain point (the end of time/the universe?), the human souls that have not had the chance to assume a corporeal form “die” but this is worse than the death of the physical body - perhaps the soul must live on Earth to learn lessons and thus improve? But what happens to souls after the physical body die? Do they die? Why is that better than never having assumed a physical body?

What you gonna do when you get old and nobody give af about you?

lmao that happens to people who have kids too terrible parents/people already come to the realization at some point people don’t like their presence. tell me how many people end up in nursing homes cause their kids can’t fathom being around them anymore outside of occasional checkups, that’s also a reality very common with boomers

    i wholeheartedly respect your choice

so assuming you were somewhere like switzerland where almost none of that is an issue, would you have them then? where does the line get drawn? suffering is a part of life no matter how good things are around you, we can extend this way further than what you list

  • we have the power to create life and dont utilize it effectively ijbol

  • This might be the wave for me cus tbh I can't fathom being a good dad bro I be wylin

something about being in 50's and 60's and no kids is depressing
you want a family to share holidays with and take care of you to some extent

TLDR: Elon appears to believe in a limited number of humans/souls who if they are not made immanent on the material plane are killed
