They still have their moments, even when they are trying a more serious approach. The first half of the MK1 story is legit really good and adds depth to characters we don’t really get to see ever. And it plays into its campy nature too

I get it, the story mode in these games are loved by casual audiences, but damn

I get on people here all the time of the stupid s*** of trying to be taken seriously of being inspired by both game of thrones and MCU. It has evaporated the soul out of everything that made Mortal Kombat great because you think it will lead to awards or being held in a high regard

Khaos Reigns could have story wise really had more fun with it in my opinion but you will see

I mean hell, MK9’s story mode was so successful, Capcom tried it with SFV. Tekken 7 tried too and they were both incredibly ass.

Then they both embraced the campiness of their own respective franchises and delivered single player modes/story modes with SF6 and Tekken 8 that are genuinely great. Play into the fan service, play into what the core audience loves about these games and don’t try to be like something else

I haven’t really gotten a chance to lab around with the new characters, but playing the story expansion alone, Cyrax seems really cool in this game. For me, I’ve always been into them the least out of the robots, so this one is something special
