Ugh I hate conversations like these. You know they’re trying to cancel elf saying it was making fun handicap kids like wtf
Yea I agree. On second watch, the characters were a lot less.... aspirational than I had originally interpreted
Kinda made me feel a bit bad for enjoying the movie and characters so much the first time lol
I think a lot of movie goers do that
These two dipshits were horrible I remember everyone cracking up at their lines but like. They can’t read and one has a gold tooth? You’re an alien/robot

Lots of Woodie Allen movies have uncomfortably autobiographical moments in more literal ways but this one sticks out
!https://youtu.be/1VIBA_mPdPAHim defending himself as to why he’s kissing children without their consent. He plays himself as an adult within the flashback for laughs but it’s just weird now
Weird stupid scene
How do y’all not feel embarrassed having a thread that’s just filled with people going “that scene was a heckin yikes, big oof”.
Film forum what do u want to talk about
It's either scene bad or scene good

The first post is about Rocky raping Adrian
With what? A lot of people miss the point and think Scorsese is glorifying what's on screen when it's not the case
Do people ever take themes or warnings seriously from movies?

Some movies have elements that didn’t age well. We can discuss it, some movies posted ppl admit things didn’t age well but still enjoy the movie. Not a big deal

Art doesn’t age. Only the context changes and that context could very well change again. Something that bothers people in the current year may not again in another ten years. History isn’t this linear progression where things are perceived as worse and worse the more years pass. It’s totally unsophisticated to get hung up on these sorts of things. It’s a boring conversation anyway as it doesn’t speak on the value of the art. Half the things people are bringing up were meant to be uncomfortable to begin with. If you’re not even going to attempt to place yourself in the time and context in which something was made then you shouldn’t talk about it.
Not necessarily a movie, but Eddie Murphy's Delirious special can be hard to watch at some points
He goated obviously but some of the AIDS era jokes he was making would never fly today. And the audience eats it right up
