I always see this weird stigma where it’s frowned upon to stay living in the same city you grew up in. The way I view things is, if most of my family and extended family live within 20 min of me, and I live in a popular city, why would I move
Thoughts?
I think it only applies if you're from a small town. Don't know anyone who would say you have to move if you're from NYC or LA for example.
I think it applies more if you’re from some backwater hick town. Not so much a major city or surrounding areas
For some people leaving is good, for some people staying is good. It all depends on their situation, so in that sense I agree there’s no reason for the stigma because for many people it’s a good decision to stay in their hometown

I left Vegas for SATX. I miss a lot of things but we’re living much better than we would had we stayed. We have a lot less family obligations as I come from a big ass family.
Honestly it was my career that made us move.
People who enjoy being with their friends or family around them often don't move just because. Usually it's because of a big career opportunity.
