Nobody is underestimating conscious music and usually the common take on hip hop especially on the internet is that street rappers all make the same music while hip hop is automatically better if the rapper is talking about something with substance. You got things completely skewed with how hip hop is viewed nowadays.

What I am saying is that you're gassing up music that when Russ or Immortal Technique or Logic or Macklemore talk about it in the exact same way, its called corny.

Also whats interesting about the production? Genuinely. Because Die Hard just sounds like a rejected beat from the Black Panther OST. N95, Silent Hill sound like bland trap instrumentals. Count me Out or that Grieve different s*** just sounds like something that belongs on the Hamilton musical. The production is skeletal largely throughout the album and hes not doing anything new. He's just making worse versions of instrumentals that have always been there.

he got critiqued for it by a vocal minority. Most people think that is an insightful song and its hilarious because its the same f***in song as Same Love but when Macklemore did it, it was called offensive and tone deaf and corny. When Kendrick does the same s*** and litters it with f slurs thoughout, its "groundbreaking", "brave", and "genius".

Also I didn't call the album shallow, I called Kendrick fans shallow because they've proven they don't know s*** about hip hop when they call "Auntie Diaries" groundbreaking but "Same Love" corny, "Mother I Sober" or "We Cry Together" deep and truly unfounded territory yet completely ignore Lupe's "Intruder Alert" or call Immortal Technique's "Dance with the Devil" corny or say "Kim" by Eminem is unlistenable garbage. The album itself is well executed thematically but the absolute glazing to pretend its some groundbreaking s*** that nobody in hip hop is talking about just proves how stupid his fans are and its laughable when anybody calls him the GOAT.

same love was really big when it came out and im pretty sure he won a grammy off it / the album that it was on lol. he probably did he critiqued for it but in the grand scheme of all it was pretty successful for him

think you're exaggerating the whole auntie diaries being "genius" thing because reception for it is very mixed

Same Love was big just like that Logic suicide song and both were honored by the grammys also. This doesn't mean the hip hop world respected either song. They thought both were corny as s***, just like they'd call NF corny for speaking on addiction or call Immortal Technique corny for speaking on violence against women. But when Kendrick does it, he's some messiah who can do no wrong and he's being revolutionary and speaking on things everybody is scared to talk about but the reality is just that his fans are blatant d***riders.

And you say Auntie Diaries was mixed in reception but it was mostly just people upset he used the f slur. Even most of those people still thought it was some genius song when approaching LGBT acceptance from the lens of a bigoted person is even more of a dated concept than s***ting on cancel culture.

Again even when a respected rapper like Common makes a song like "Between Me, You and Liberation" which is a million times better song in every way than Auntie Diaries not just musically and conceptually but also a more responsible and poetic take of the same story, it goes completely ignored by even hip hop fans despite it being 20 years old at this point. It just proves to me that Kendrick fans dont know a single thing about this genre and I don't trust top 10s from people on the internet because I know these mfs don't listen to the genre. It's annoying as s*** to keep hearing people being like "hip hop is so misogynist, homophobic, hateful but Kendrick is enlightening everybody!". It's no different than when the whites used to say "rap is crap but Eminem is good"

This album would be up there if he cut short by GKMC length not that it has fillers but some songs dont have replay value im aware it was part of the concept im not gonna question his perspective for what this album should stand for Ive allways respected that particular trait from him but lowkey it kinda ruined another perfect swish by Mr.Lamar plus the album's sequence doesn't help at all..
TPAB is a better album overall than Mr.Morale although Im sure there's a lot of people who find more relatable songs on Mr.Morale not only due to the thematics of the album but also due to its production too because for TPAB he went for a completely different lane while on Mr.Morale he reunited all the usual suspects TDE affiliated the likes of Dahi J.Lbs Tae Beast which made it more of a Kendrick's album plus the features are surgically on point too.
Bottom line if he would leave We cry Together Auntie Diares Mother I Sober off the album and annexed the interludes as an intro or outro to Savior and Rich spirit and adjust the sequence Worldwide steppers is a song I personally like though seems out of place right after N95 for example it would a perfect album imo

even TPAB is pretty overrated. Pretentious album message for Kendrick to literally act like a messiah and pretend all black people are a monolith and that tupac interview moment will forever be one of the most cringe moments in hip hop history
