Silent Hill hook and Kendrick verse are kinda mid not gonna lie
He barely said s*** on that song
I was a Kendrick stan. This album killed it for me. I am seriously dissapointed and its both the music and the message of "nah i am out. I am not gonna be y'all savoir. I am just out here cheating on my wife and stuff" Cool that he got his s*** off but maybe make it musically more compelling ffs.
The album has some amazing songs but the whole project ain't it.
It’s not bad, and I wouldn’t say it’s dated, it might not be the most modern or futuristic production but it’s still very good
I agree for a few hooks, like die hard and purple hearts (i don’t feel those songs)
but the album is amazing my man
and who else raps on worldwide steppers beat ?
also united in grief has crazy good production

Quelle Chris did WWS first iirc
That beat is par for the course in the underground today

True that s*** was the worst on Mr. Morale. Kendrick went on autopilot to accommodate Kodak and that was the wrong creative choice imo

Yeah it really bugged me that we got any “autopilot Kenny” vibes on there after such a long wait. I expected him to be able to balance his strengths and message with a sound like that better if he was gonna go for it. He had time to perfect his version of that style
There’s some lyrics I like on Die Hard and Purple Hearts but I similarly kind of almost felt like we were getting soundtrack Kenny/feature Kenny type vibes on the verses

if that message is all you got from the album you fr missed the point
@op explain How the production sounds dated?
I also would be interested in op explaining more, dated isn’t the word I would use
Most of the beats are great but there a few that don’t hit/feel kind of cheap for a Kendrick album
Those drums on Purple Hearts are not it at all. Father Time vocal samples are cool but the beat itself is kind of bland/could’ve been on a mixtape in 2011 vibes. Pharrell kind of s*** the bed on the title track. But outside those 3 the production is great
Hooks, idk

Still a great song though. Has a Kendrick touch that can’t be replicated by others the same way.

Absolutely. I’m just sayin tho the beat itself isn’t super groundbreaking but I love how he did it
Clearly enough of us like MM&TBS to argue about it for 32 pages so ultimately OP is wrong about it being a bad album. If it was truly forgettable, we would have forgotten it.
32 pages
I like the album idgaf what y’all think, but of all complaints to have imagine putting on United In Grief and thinking “ah yeah this sounds dated”
