People don't understand that hip-hop is just a medium for artistic expression just like painting or film making or any other art form. Obviously there are things that make hip-hop distinguishable from other genres like rapping and certain production techniques but outside of that it's really wide open for you to do whatever you want with it. Kendrick like the Jordan Peele of this s***. Every time he drop his s*** provokes thought and becomes a conversation piece.

I'm glad we have so many great artist doing different things. For every artist like Drake who is focusing on maximizing the entertainment value of his music we have somebody like Cole for example who is focusing on creating music that showcases his technical abilities and has down to earth relatable subject matter/storytelling.

It's so many ways to do this thing, room for everyone
