the club is offering a make-up show for the audience so a sizeable (?) portion of them weren't in on it

mark normand, the comedian on stage, also had no idea what was happening. 0 prior knowledge

so idk this seems stupid should've just hired a fake crowd and paid mark to do it for promo

Mark Normand was on stage in NY, someone 'rushed the stage' whole building got evacuated

The story blew up all over Twitter & reddit, the club/mark had to come out and say it was staged (?) but the audience weren’t in on it(?)

And now gambino is sharing it and it turns out its a ARG viral marketing in universe thing that ties into the show

and he's literally saying he had no prior knowledge? unless you mean him saying that is part of the bit/arg/kayfabe etc and the club saying they'll offer a free show is also part of the ARG? which maybe you're right but to what end? like whats the conclusion of this it seems pointless to keep playing along.
