just because it has some form of catchy melody in the song, some form of singing, and it being popular amongst casual losers does not make it pop rap lol
a milli is literally a perfect example of this, the background vocals of it is catchy as f***, so is wayne’s performance but that’s where it ends, in essence it’s just 4 mins straight of bars yet it’s extremely popular, that does not make it pop rap
pop rap is s*** like big poppa, and even there the subject matter is not toned down, the lyrics aren’t accessible either, but the hook is the part of the song people sit there for, if the song never charted y’all wouldnt even label it like y’all do lol
flower boy has a bunch of jazz rap and neo soul in it, that’s why it’s thrown under alt-hip hop, just because there’s a bunch of singing and catchy s*** in it does not make it pop, stop generalizing s*** to fit your image
