Imo spherical lenses are the way to go when shooting a blockbuster spectacle on digital cameras. It feels epic without looking cheap or distracting

An even bigger sin is to shoot a cgi blockbuster spectacle on film and mix it with digital compositing for the cgi in post production. It's just gonna look jarring and unsettling no matter how good the lighting or shot composition may be.

That's a huge problem with Batman vs Superman's big cgi shots and why everything in them feel weightless and unreal:

To be fair that's Snyder's style throughout all his films. Some filmmakers use CGI to make films feel realistic whereas he purposely goes for cartoon effect.

His ultimate goal is to make them feel fake

Yeah it seems like it. But I completely get it being divisive (I personally hate the s*** but some love it)

He struck the perfect stylistic balance in 300 tho

Nah it legit is his goal it's why his work are usually comic book adaptions or things based in fantasy.

During 300 he spoke on the fact his goal is to visually reflect what a comic book and or cartoon feels like.

And he criticized adaptions that do the opposite. Most filmmaker try and make the material fit the real world.

Snyder tries to use effects to make the real world like comic books.

I actually think the style works like with Sin City it's just Snyder is bad storyteller and writer.

Didn't know that. Pretty interesting and gives more insight into Snyder's mindset as a creator

Yeah I don't think he's wrong and I think there's a space for work like his I actually enjoy his sense of style.

It's just his storytelling is bogged down in it aswell. The acting and scripts aren't as well done so it ends up falling apart.

He's more into scale then story

@Brave I always wanted Snyder to do DBZ live action.

He'd need a good writer but visually no one else could capture the show imo.

@FREE do you think a legit DBZ franchise should start with Dragon Ball and grow up with Goku like Harry Potter or go straight into the Saiyans?

Honestly either way from a fan standpoint start with DragonBall and do it the right way.

Realistically DBZ is the one that's globally famous so start there then do Dragonball adaptions as prequels.
