Books 3-6 of SP are only the way they are cause O'Malley and Wright started developing the film as the third book was being written. So they would have to compromise and use each other's ideas on a lot of the story elements of the books and film respectively. Why else would Wright condense every book into a film (while leaving a lot out) instead of making several films? This isn't a JK Rowling/WB situation where she took so much time to crank the books out and WB was so behind in turning it into a franchise that they didn't have to compromise (the films started when the fourth book was out lol)

I just wonder what the books would've been like if Edgar Wright and the film weren't involved so early on. They both ended up amazing but still.
