The one thing I hate about how social media has changed getting discovered is...
You need to find some magical way to build your own audience before the higher ups can give you a chance. Not just in music either. In comics you could just email submissions to Marvel or DC and they'd tell you whether they wanted to give you a chance or not...but now they no longer accept submissions.
Like what if there's no way you can build your own audience but you have the talent and marketability to make a label lots of money? F*** man I wish you could still just find a way to get your music heard by labels and they'd give you a chance.

Did labels say "you have to build your own audience first" so musicians wouldn't bother them through internet submissions?

Was thinking something similar about this yesterday after watching this documentary about Paul Heyman. He was saying how he basically scammed his way into getting media access into the arena and other moments during the rest of his come up when he was starting.
Kinda similar Steve Jobs being able to call the CEO (I think) of HP and talk to him just through finding his number in the yellow pages and other stories from his book early on his life.
Feel like those kind of moments are no longer feasible but maybe I’m wrong

I’d love to know if there’s similar stories like that more recently since I’m sure it still happens.
But from my experience of searching/finding jobs and knowing other people who got jobs it honestly is about having the right connections.
Shame that sense of authentic moments don’t seem as feasible but the people I mentioned clearly had the right drive/passion to pursue those opportunities which not everyone truly has even if they say they do
Anyway I’m probably rambling lol
I got muted for 10 minutes for reporting too much
Damn they said u doing a lil too much snitching sir😂😂

Nah, pretty sure it was to save money and make more "accurate" guesses on which new artists can blow
