    Never change KTT

There’s actually plenty of thought out reasons why this is bad but you just love to think you’re above the rest of us silly leftists that you can’t help yourself.

I have no sympathy for Maduro, but it’s very obvious that Trump has ulterior motives. This has more to do with taking over their oil supply than it does to stop narcoterrorism. They just used that as a Trojan horse to get to the real objective.

never said to abandon critical a***ysis, but lived experience can be an additional input into it because it can provide things like field access, language fluency, and cultural understanding

if those two equally trained scholars exist, preferring the one with deeper lived and cultural exposure isn’t abandoning critique, it’s recognizing that they have more information

pretty simple to take it away from the academic field, somebody with boots on the ground knows more than somebody who's never been there

All of which are not monolith and are tied to someone’s class interest and own personal biases…, much less the inherent barriers capital puts in the way of technology and education one needs to actually acquire this knowledge at a high level.

On top of that, not understanding US media has vested interest in cherry-picking which “Venezuelan peopel” are deemed to be given the space to even voice their opinions and what even the basis of their problem is.

No one talks about US intervention in Venezuela in the last few decades, it’s like some bullshit whining about muh elections and freedom of choice because the US definitely needs to be the sole arbiter of how other countries dictate their elections

You mean the citizens of Venezuela?

I mean bootlickers and spineless chuds online

I understand why some Venezuelans feel relieved, getting rid of a dictator is understandably seen as a win - but that relief doesn't erase the bigger picture. The version of “freedom” being sold here comes at a big cost, and celebrating it without acknowledging that price misses the entire premise of what's happening.

They been saying they want that oil for months.

I don't trust a single thing about this.

  • Millions of people in Venezuela, assuming everyone is some hyper aware online lib who cares about electoral processes enough to justify us intervention is naive

Most people probably don’t care that much about politics, or just want to grill, or hate the fact they still have to go to work on Monday or you know average person s*** besides watching their capital get raided and leaders kidnapped

Agreed. They are probably going to just be trading one evil for another. This action had very little to do with liberating them. It only has do with control of their oil supply.

    Ofc dude
Maduro can be bad and having the US install Maria Machado just to siphon resources from Venezuela can also be bad

Unfortunately no one wins here except the mega wealthy

The people of Venezuela are no better off and maybe worse in the long run following today’s actions.

Yeah, Trump didn't even try to make his goal ambiguous (not that it would even matter, from my pov). That's what's so infuriating about this.
