Her father was tortured to death by CIA backed state intelligence. She served under Chavez and Maduro for decades.

    Pretty lazy misinformation campaign tbh

And? Can she follow instructions? She has no choice here who cares about what the CIA did. She can be pulled just like Maduro was.

This wouldn’t be the first or last time the right hand man just took over with instructions from Washington. What does DC actually care for the governance of the country

I find the personal background excuse pretty meaningless and decades of US history suggest it can be also.

They settled on Delcy weeks ago. This was the plan. Situation can change sure but don't get the pushback to me suggesting this yesterday. It was simple a***ysis which can always be wrong sure.

Weeks earlier, U.S. officials had already settled on an acceptable candidate to replace Mr. Maduro, at least for the time being: Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, who had impressed Trump officials with her management of Venezuela’s crucial oil industry.

    --

The people involved in the discussions said intermediaries persuaded the administration that she would protect and champion future American energy investments in the country.
“I’ve been watching her career for a long time, so I have some sense of who she is and what she’s about,” said one senior U.S. official, referring to Ms. Rodríguez. “I’m not claiming that she’s the permanent solution to the country’s problems, but she’s certainly someone we think we can work at a much more professional level than we were able to do with him,” the official added, referring to Mr. Maduro.

    --

It was an easy choice, the people said. Mr. Trump had never warmed up to the Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, who had organized a winning presidential campaign in 2024, earning her the Nobel Peace Prize this year. Since Mr. Trump’s re-election, Ms. Machado has gone out of her way to please him, calling him a “champion of freedom,” mimicking his talking points on election fraud in the United States and even dedicating her Peace Prize to him.

Whether she can follow instructions and do the job is the requirement. I feel like KTT gets wayyyy too caught up in personal stories, ideological battles, etc..

She has no choice here. Can she follow instructions? If she felt she can't, I feel like she would have already fled to Moscow

Me too, until Russia denied it, and then she appeared on national television. I can't find the article right now, but I remember one Western media saying 3 sources countered that shes in Caracas

The New York Times quoting the Trump administration.

Remember 48 hours ago when they pretended not to know what was happening in Venezuela despite being tipped off ahead of time?

It's really convenient they settled on the default successor. Evil geniuses over there.

Whatever you do, don't quote the woman herself.
