When the Virgin Megastore closed. Since then and Limewire CDs were an afterthought unless I wanted the art and cool text with it
The compact disc (CD) is a digital optical disc data storage format that was co-developed by Philips and Sony to store and play digital audio recordings. It was released in 1982 branded as Digital Audio Compact Disc.
so its technology from 1982 and ur wondering when was this era over...
wtf ur old asf
when I downloaded Napster in third grade
CD era had to end after KTT goons threatened Mike Dean with early copies of Rodeo on CD from Target
I just saw albums I liked drop and for some reason I didn't want to own the CDs anymore.
I also started buying digital games and want to own a digital PS5. Now I'm trying to quit Blurays too.
When they started closing more FYEs. Best Buy and Target no longer selling CDs.
Still got one in the mall
Still got one in the mall
FYE is such a garbage store maybe Im too young to have known it being good but the 2 ive been to at my mall and the one at my colleges mall smell like s*** have terrible "merch" clothing and all the vinyl is damaged or beat up
No u know what I paid my debt to Linkin Park I bought Hybrid Theory on CD on Amazon in 6th grade to atone for my diet piracy lol even got the whole band to sign it too when I met them at a show what a cool memory..RIP chester
Nah I was just too young to really know how to pirate cuz this was like Elementary School..I just went to regular old music piracy in middle school after a breif and expensive itunes gift card phase in 7th grade
I am absolutely pro piracy in every way shape or form (which might be unethical) but streaming just made it easier for me to pay than to download 7 albums a month so they got me to stop...genius tbh they literally cracked music piracy after 20 years by making it easier to pay for it
Yeah this is why I couldn’t believe what I was seeing when I first used Spotify
There a lot of things about streaming that I’m not a fan of (contributing to the shortening the average music listener’s attention span, a noticeable increase in output from musicians, for better or for worse, the awful revenue streams for artists) but I’ve discovered so much goat music that I’m not sure I would’ve heard of had it not been for using Spotify / YouTube in tandem
I bought TPAB and then Rodeo on CD I think that was the last one... guess ANTI and Pablo being the next huge releases and being streaming albums basically killed it

I copy pasted this from Wikipedia

Yeah streaming is a complicated beast for sure but like the idea of not being able to listen to whatever song I want to right now freaks me out a bit tbh
I think I have a decent attention span I'm still such an albums guy and I sit through long ass songs and delve deep into my favorite artists and add old mixtapes/songs not on streaming to apple thru local files but I recognize im in the minority and a lot of ppl treat spotify like clicking through youtube videos

Once more life never got a cd release
