Feb 1, 2021·editedhttps://twitter.com/Navjosh/status/13562522476848332832012· editedit's not gonna have much of an effect sadly because Kakao M who owns the largest streaming service in Korea (Melon) isn't allowing artists whose music is distributed by them on Spotify, Kakao happen to also be one of the biggest distributers for music in Korea. For example IU who is the quite literally the biggest artist in Korea has her music distributed by Kakao and as such isn't on here.
I assume this is because Spotify launching poses a threat to their current market share on streaming (mainly bcuz of the price) so they wanna kill it before it even starts, which is what they're effectively doing by not allowing said artists on here.
