KojimboWhat county is that and how is he that important? I’m genuinely asking not being a smartass. Again not to be disrespectful but he was not that popular or talked about until he died. That’s one of the most common themes I can think of in hip hop. Everyone loves you when you’re dead. I’m sure even he’d agree
I remember being a kid and seeing his kris kross sampling video in like 09 and crenshaw tape was really when i tapped in so i think i have a good grasp
He wasn’t a superstar but its lost how the mixtape era pre 2015 had a lot of middle tier guys that kinda were in a grey area of being a household name bc of how tied together everything was for a few years: the mixtape circuit, the blogs / social media and youtube pretty much becoming the top music broadcast place
If you knew Spitta Wale Kendrick (pre GKMC) Dom Wiz (pre B&Y/Rolling Papers), then you knew Nip. Its very hard to explain if you werent a preteen/teenager or older in 09-2012

Jadakiss is a huge figure in east coast hip-hop, very well respected. I'm not gonna get in my feelings cause someone outside of the east coast don't really know about him much aside from one or two tracks.

I knew who Nipsey was because he'd collab with some of the artists I was listening to back then. I still wasn't going out of my way to listen to bro like that
I knew about him, but it's not like I was hearing a lot of his solo tapes around my way.
I'm not expecting people outside of NYC to know about Max B, or listen to him all the time. But around my way, that nigga a legend.

Obviously I’m not saying art is just audio.
And the difference is the topic was about “music” videos. Clear difference than lets say a movie or tv show where angelina jolie’s face is deepfaked over tracee ellis ross’ face to make some weird freaky Friday movie.
I would argue against deepfakes/usage of Ai in their respective industries there too.
The same reason why I don't decry AI deepfake in that Wayne video that made him look younger cause it was narrative.
Deepfaking actual actors/actresses in AI (to me) isnt narrative and no longer is a tool but replaceable. And dont take my word for it take the word of all them niggas striking lol.
Also the difference between a deep fake and a snapchat filter is a deep fake is way more believable than a snapchat filter is dawg.

ai can be a tool to help create art but ai itself is not art. a blank canvas is not art. a brush, paint, hell even an idea, isnt art. they’re all tools to help bring the art to life. hope this helps

Andre Jaquetwhether its praised for that aspect or not does not change what im saying. its being used as a TOOL to deliver a message in a broader piece of art, to just make an animation smoother so as to circumvent a painstaking process. deepfakes dont exactly require much individual human expression and creativity, its like if you can automate raytracing to a button you would and thats entirely different from the entire game being generated by an AI. Again yes those are ai too but thats not what people mean when they say AI theres no reason to be obtuse. the ethical reasons people have issue with deepfakes in p*** is completely detached from whether its ai or not, its an issue of consent.
