2016 really was the last good year lmao

I mean not really cuz 2017 and 2018 were still solid years, 2019 is when it started to fall apart

Why hasn’t there been a surge of new talent since the Trump admin? Coincidence?

I think music changing in general has coincided with trump yes

First of all, like it or not XXX was ~ supposed ~ to be the one of the next biggest rappers and he died so

Same with Juice WRLD. I'm not really a fan of them but there was a whole wave of rappers in that style that basically died out at the end of the 2010s and is on life support right now

So it's like music was on a certain path three years ago, then got switched to another path. Like I said, we haven't really seen the next Drake or Kendrick like run yet

We are definitely gonna see a cooler and more interesting era following this. Production is gonna be way more electronically influenced than ever and there will be even more interesting artists pushing these boundaries, We're just gonna have to wait to see

I think with Drain Gang and Sad Boys getting popular(not a huge fan of them) production is gonna be more sparse and ambient than ever. A lot more synths and less mellow pianos and guitars

This year been one of the best years already this century

17 and 18 were fantastic as well

Right now hip hop is heading in this direction

This could be the super mainstream sound for the next few years, however that might change if another emerging style of music becomes popular

The emo rap wave was supposed to be big asf but since Juice, X, and Peep died no one has managed to recapture the good parts of their music. Internet Money even dropped Iann Dior because they didn't want anything to do with the emo wave anymore.

Yup it should‘ve inspired more thought provoking bars imo

For example like rap historian rappaport said WHERE are the Corona raps only one I can think of is off the new StanWill project

  • Jun 29, 2020

Best we've gotten that's more popular is maybe YG - FDT and the Joey Bada$$ All Amerikkkan Bad Ass album, if we are talking about music that speaks on the presidency and political climate since he's been in office.

2020 has been promising in that regard, was surprised when Lil Baby dropped The Bigger Picture

  • Jun 29, 2020

Under the worst president of all time, most artists released their worst projects

    Fitting...

  • Jun 29, 2020

2018 is a slept on year idk why. Easily top 4 of the decade
