There was a time when Mustafa became paranoid that he spoke too frequently about death. But that was only because he had seen so much of it. There’s a video of him on YouTube from when he was younger. He’s performing a poem 48 hours after the death of his childhood friend Youssef. It’s a poem about resilience and a poem in his memory and it’s utterly gut-wrenching. He recites it with a voice ready to crack, ready to snap and break. Mustafa has never watched it back, it’s just too raw, but it’s an example of a life spent dealing with tragedy and trying to beautify a friend’s existence.
I really hope he’ll become huge this year. He deserves it.
