Then apologize. Sympathize and empathize with his perspective. Your dad is a business man right? Maybe when you said "all business men should be lynched" he assumed you were talking about him too. Tell him you were you speaking from a place of frustration.

Even if it's your "opinion" you should apologize if it offended him.

He's worked hard to provide for you. Telling him that ppl like him deserve to be hung probably hurt him more than you think. You got to remember that ppl from his era don't perceive the world like you do.

A lot of their pride is attached to their job.

A lot of times I haven't wanted to apologize for my opinions. But I did it anyway. Doesn't change the way I felt. But it made the other person feel better. And that's what matters :)
