    nah go off

    tha streets need it

lmao I’m not on my Ritalin so not gonna go crazy but

Trilogy is a once in a decade debut project.

The rarity of an artist to come out with the combination of having a voice like that, an aesthetic so clearly defined, songwriting talent of that caliber and to be so self aware
in image and combined with a producer like illangelo who is obscenely talented and previously unknown is just so absurd.

He’s one of the most gifted pop writers of our generation and he’s taking that pop writing talent and putting it into this style of just an unbelievably depraved character and combining that with this immaculate taste in production, in samples, in influences. It’s just unreal. He’s someone who can write hits at will and with Trilogy he’s picking to make that artsy, perfect, genre-bending album.

And yet somehow, despite the fact that he’s singing about f***ing models while blasted off coke it feels relatable in some dark twisted way. I saw an interview and he said “I’m saying the things most young men feel”. It’s misogynistic, it’s creepy, it’s disturbing and yet in some way it’s like the Wolf of Wall Street and you want to feel that and you want to be able to relate. And most importantly he’s incredibly self aware that this is the music he’s making and this is how he feels. S*** look at Kiss Land - “this ain’t nothing to relate to, even if you tried.”

And somehow he made 3 projects in a year that capture this in entirely different ways. The success of any single one of those projects would’ve been enough to shift the landscape of the genre and he made 3 in the space of a year and it was his f***ing debut.

    It’s just astounding.

I understand the bbtm dislike, the switch up from kl was huge.
But starboy has some of his most experimental pop moments.

    yup
Rolling Stone is absolutely insane to look back on now

    Ooh, but until then
    I got you, ooh
    Baby, I got you, ooh
Until you're used to my face
    And my mystery fades
    I got you, ooh

    So, baby, love me, oh
    Before they all love me
Until you won't love me, oh
Because they'll all love me, ooh
    I'll be different, oh
I think I'll be different, ooh
I hope I'm not different, oh
And I hope you'll still listen

Would like to hear your reasoning behind this. I feel like HOB set the tone and really shifted the sound of R&B. The other two tapes just built upon the foundation of HOB
