I have two dogs and one of them already broke on of there leashes that extends so I have that one on a shorter leash and the dog who is more behaved. Well he has this problem where he tries to
Attack any car driving by .. he was this close to getting hit today . I immediately switched leashes (from now on there getting the short leashes when I take them on a walk)

The thing is ... I wanted him to know he was wrong. So I started hitting him. I took
Them back home and was telling him that was not okay. ..

Was I wrong for hitting him. Do you think he understands why I hit him immediately after his action. .. he’s a dog. He’s not going to learn from that but I think he’s smart so he knows that he knows why he got punished like that. Better him getting some sort of a sense that something was wrong with that he did.

I’m f***ing shocked because those leashes do break and I swear he was almost done for.
Just going to have to use the shorter leash that’s stronger and won’t break because he’s just going to do it again . I shouldn’t of hit him but .. what do you think he thought of me punishing him like that . Do you think he’s going to remember that. Probobly not.. I’m just glad he’s ok. I’m gunna make sure that situation doesn’t happen again

Don't be so hard on yourself and in the future just use a regular leash that doesn't have the capacity to break like those other leashes.

It's instinct for them to run like that, so smacking them ultimately does more for you than it does for them in that scenario.

The best thing you can do is train them so they halt on command. It's a hell of a lot of work.
