earl lee and been known, saved you some time. with that out the way,
my friend goes on these random ass rants about s*** and hes been talking about some stuff related to Brockhampton that i was vaguely aware of but never really put it together like that. basically he told me the entire group was managed by this guy Chris Clansy who has mad credits on all eminem and 50 cent albums and at some point started managing pretty much the entire subset of 2010s hip hop in Odd Future, Mac Miller, Frank Ocean, Kevin Abstract, and finally Brockhampton
at some point my boy mentioned how dudes apparently 'got buzz on the internet' and all their s*** kinda went viral at around the same time and very very very shortly after that they started releasing a ton of merch (a pitchfork t shirt that i vaguely remember) together with moving to the now well-known mansion where all bh albums were made or whatever
i find it interesting that we dont really bring too much attention to the fact that these 'organic' waves often end up being orchestrated behind closed doors, and of course thats a given in the music business, however its just funny that the connection between eminem and 50 cent and tyler and brockhampton is much more obvious even if fans wanna feel 'different' about their music tastes. btw i didnt really look into chris and kelly clancy but im p sure theres some interesting stuff about them that someone might put me on

I've never seen them hating on a white pop star
Very interesting
Breaking: successful group has successful manager
They always seemed corny to me
Was never huge on them nor their image
Plus they didn't look at all like superstars yet they really tried to force em to be
i know thread is a joke but ASF is the real reason Brockhampton was even a thing

why u wanna be dismissive about it like its not crazy the same dude that was behind two of the biggest starts of one decade at some point pivoted towards something that became the new mainstream in the next decade. just posted here to get your a snappy one off i mean good for you

Their biggest album sold 36k, idk if I’d call that the new mainstream. Compared to 50 Cent
no way you wrote everything in the op in a serious manner
no way youre on a forum with likeminded people talk about the thing yall know and witnessed?

its not crazy but then you think about everyone in that lane who sold something for dude you realize its a lot of people following these artists. plus its as mainstream as it gets at this point with tyler being at the forefront of this particular wave and frank just before that
I mean they definitely put a lot of thought into marketing and had a pretty competent team at least in the beginning

They’re just going through another psychosis episode, they’ll stop posting in like a week again

its crazy that all that was undermined by a bunch of twitter users lmao like howd they even allow it to happen from management side

Because you’re using words like “alleges” and putting “indie” in quotations, as if they did something taboo or to downplay what they did
Essentially all successful independent artists are still getting help from significant industry players at some point in their rise
no way youre on a forum with likeminded people talk about the thing yall know and witnessed?
just say your friend don’t know s*** man
i know thread is a joke but ASF is the real reason Brockhampton was even a thing
? ASF is brockhampton

Ehh well there was a lot of internal stuff going on in the group too tbh some that is known and other that remains more obscure , the thing just kind of collapsed once they got signed
? ASF is brockhampton
exactly
it was the first iteration of it, but op and his friend thinks Brockhampton just spawned into the hands of the clancys and blew up
do you guys think artists just make it magically out of thin air or what?
it all takes hard work and dedication that takes years in most cases of creating and cultivating your little local fanbase and then you get lucky and find someone who is great at marketing or getting you out there like you need to reach more people and fans or does things to help you that you yourself didnt think of.
that is not planting, that is normal.

hilarious what indie been standing for for so long that people now just entirely believe and defend the lie for no reason
