@op , glad you are finding an outlet and doing something that is keeping your mind off of things by listening to music. As others have said, there are far worse things you could be doing. I went through a really difficult break up in January of 2022 and honestly I'm still not completely over it but I'm doing a whole lot better than I was and I have a good feeling about the new year and seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Anyway in short you will get through this man and if you need someone to talk to hit me

Lucifer and family feud are some of my fav jay z songs. I also love the acapella version of the black album. It awesome to hear him just rap with no backing track.

Nice ranks. I didn't really like 4:44, but I haven't listened in years so maybe I'll come around to it now that I'm older.
noooooooo :( what happened breh
Lmao wait nothing! I’m just in for his reviews. Me and my girl still good
Op real soon
https://twitter.com/LostFrisco/status/1740756254446801005Doing this with McDonald’s is crazy cuz it’s like eating a bag of chips to me now with how that’s not really real food
This is the kind of experiment you’d see on a random blog in the early 2010s.
OP restoring the feeling
I feel like the girlfriend part isn’t true and this is just an excuse to talk abojt Jay z’s music

Funny thing is it clicked for me so hard and i was 15 when it came out. i love the top 6 albums and think they’re classics, after that blueprint 3 holds a special place in my heart cuz it partly got me into rap music. magna carta to kingdom come are good albums but with some flawed tracks. everything is love, vol 3 and the r kelly albums are straight up bad outside apeshit and big pimpin
Bro tried to aesthetisize McDonalds
Poor as b**** eating indoors instead of in the rental
@op you would be a good fit for vz planner thread. come stop by
I'll give my last listens to Volume 1 and prepare to have the review out tomorrow. When the new write up is ready, I'll post the Reasonable Doubt review here in the thread and link it in OP so it's accessible
I did this with an ex but all Future albums
got through it in the end
better idea
good luck with 4:44 @op
The first album. I'll be honest, it's an incredible title. I don't know the deep meaning, but this is a great way to start.
I was first to exposed to this album via the bonus CD on Kingdom Come (2006), in which Jay treated us to live renditions of Can't Knock the Hustle featuring Beyonce, Politics As Usual, and Can I Live. (Sidenote, does anyone else know about this bonus CD? Those tracks are sometimes hard to find, even online).
This is my first time listening to the album in full, but some of Jay's most iconic tracks are on here. I really appreciate how unique his sound is in his first album, and though I was a wee tot back in 1996, I imagine there wasn't anyone like Jay on the market and the time. He really was able to put forward his personality in this album, letting us folks know what he's about and what to expect.
Many of the tracks give you the game, let you know about the business, and prepare you for a journey. Besides the obvious hitters and tracks like Can I Live, I also downloaded tracks like Coming of Age with Memphis Bleek that reminds me a lot of Eminem's Guilty Conscience (no doubt inspired by this track), Regrets, another track that spells out the truth in clear detail, and Brooklyn's Finest with Notorious B.I.G... not a track that I initially downloaded, but one of Biggie's last features and a passing of the torch, whether they knew it or not.
I'm listening to all the albums in order, many of which I've never heard before in full, so my rankings for each album on this project will be commensurate with the growing list of albums... simply put? The less albums there are, the less albums there are to compare to. Early albums will have higher rankings as they will be compared to each other, and as we get more information and list out more albums, it'll be tougher to reach high scores unless the music is truly hitting like that.
Here's a bonus for starting this journey with me... the track that made me fall in love with Reasonable Doubt, 17 years before I heard the full project:
1. Feelin' It (feat. Mecca)
2. Can't Knock the Hustle (feat. Mary J. Blige)
3. Ain't No N***a (feat. Foxy Brown)
