Yes as an og weekend fan I felt all the new fans over shadowed my very high value take of this album. It deserves it's own thread..

No one gives a f*** about ur opinion

A lot of people on this site can’t actually discuss music at the most you’ll get a sentence, “mid” or a meme. So I respect this OP even tho you’re getting s***ted on and this thread is mid.

there's 5 pop songs on this lmao. and they're all well produced and thought out.
niggas want trilogy and kiss land all the time
and they actually get it on this record. s*** has 9 songs that sound like a kiss land 2080 with some new sound for The Weeknd.
what's the problem? lmao even critics seem to like it

Imma re-post what i said on the other thread

  • Mar 20, 2020

I get more and more conflicted as I continue to listen to it

This REALLY falls off after Blinding Lights save for Until I Bleed Out , In Your Eyes - Repeat After Me run conflicts so badly with the aesthetic of the project and sounds straight out of those 2017 sessions whereby he scrapped that 'upbeat, happy album'.

First two tracks are great but that muffled singing spoils certain elements not sure why he adopted that style

Production is immaculate, I just feel like he's still stretching himself thin between the dark Illangelo-driven sound and pop hits

Regardless, still his most focused and cohesive album since Kissland and 'After Hours' self-titled track is his best track since KOTF imo, (only other competition is The Hills) and for that reason I am fairly pleased.

Defo feels like an evolution on the MDM sound more than anything else, I initially wanted to draw a comparison to Kissland but overall it's far too soft even in its heavier moments
