There’s a long history of white america stealing black culture. They even used to just have white artists re-perform black artists’ songs so they could market it better. So no reason to doubt the OP about it happening here.

Using Eminem instantly makes this look like a troll thread though. He’s widely regarded as one of the GOATs by fans and members of the craft/culture. Just casually dropping in that he’s a mediocre artists who steals from black innovators or implying it will obviously derail the thread.

Also, to be totally honest, most people think this genre of music is garbage. All of it. I don’t think too many really appreciate the difference between what’s being called innovating and what’s not.

    Lmaoo facts @ last paragraph

No one grabbing protest signs or making Elvis/Chuck Berry/Little Richard comparisons for these dudes making worse versions of WLR/jerk beat WLR. It’s all generally low effort and relies on aesthetic shock value and marketing/timing more than any actual musical talent to begin with

Fair and yea ur right to point that out. Thank you.

yea he brought jerk to the uk and yea his aesthetic was influential but my thing is, his whiteness was a big part of what marketed him and can def be attributed to why he had wayyy more motion than basically anyone else in his lane way before anyone else yk? The image of this pale skinned twink in white girl 2014 attire was a big part of it and it worked same with how nett being a blonde white kid with a glock on triller was the main marketing component that made his s*** go off crazy if we are being real. Xav was also mixing the nostalgic s*** with the jerk s*** but it didn’t have that same shocking factor cuz he’s not a white kid. Phresh has defenders but I’ve never really met one tbh

this is true but tbh xav never went as far as phresh with the nostalgia stuff

  • he YVL tho

    just joking

  • jorjiana is also a result of this

yea I don’t rly care for the people in the last paragraph they are part of the problem. They shouldn’t be in a thread about a scene they don’t like

The first one is real tho

He signed to 10K Projects..look up who Elliot Grainge is and you'll understand.

And yes Nettspend blew up and the whiteness is apart of his brand/the reason..but you still gotta give credit where its due with his output and presentation.

And largely I agree with your points just not sure if this 100% applies to him (Nett) in this space.

I think this was more true in the emo rap underground days i.e Tracy, Juice Wrld, Lil Peep etc..where you could create someone like JUMEX in a lab..that was way more dangerous and actually set things back until like 2020/2021

By that time Yeat and Weiland were big reasons of the revival just as much as their black counterparts i.e Summrs Autumn KanKan Babysantanna

I guess my question to you now is, are you saying that if Nettspend was black and did the same exact things it would be viewed as mediocre?

Yea that’s fair actually, though I’d il peep was like very much so incredibly unique and innovative in the way he took inspo from emo music. Great points overall ur totally right

To answer the last one ya I think he would’ve just been one of those 1c members that didn’t really pop off more than a ksuuvi if he wasn’t white.

  • All ima say is i tried listening to psykotic today and it was so ass

Idk what changed i used to love that s*** but it wont age well

  • we not like you

  • Childhood

    elc >>> psykotic
