I would be lying if I said I could explain, but I can break this down some for you, the word “quick” in this context means alive (archaic meaning), so what the Bible says here is that the word of God is living and powerful, and sharp to the point of piercing to the dividing in two (asunder) of the soul and spirit

So basically how I see it is the soul is closer the essence of being(that is generally tainted by the sinful world we live in) and the spirit is the closer to the reality of spiritual existence, where the truth of God, eternity and things of that nature permeate from within intrinsically (this also can be tainted by the denial of the true God, through deception of demonic influence that comes in various disguises)
