"Narcissism is the pursuit of gratification from vanity or egotistic admiration of one's idealised self-image and attributes."
does this mental illness only apply to successful ppl or can it also describe those who have low self worth and generally arent going anywhere in life?
recently i been seeing one of my old cousins constantly post all day about how his podcast is going to blow up, him and his co hosts are the future, his friend is going to get them in hollywood, blah blah blah
now i know for a fact hes a burnout and just sits around doing d**** all day but i didnt think he had such delusions about himself and his future. his family still supports him bc they kno he has mental issues and theyre good ppl but hes been in and out of jail so many times now, f***in guy cant even rob a liquor store successfully
how do i tell him he needs to get off social media and get an actual job or some skills ? or get him to stop being a delusional c*** when questioned about his failures as a person

there's tons of people like that though lmao you gotta learn to live and let live i guess
it's only a matter of time before he's in his 30s and less and less people support him

i guess ur right
hes already in his late 20s but still accomplishing nothing in life. i actually care about him a lot so its hard to see him like this
i wanna have a conversation with him to see if hes alright but idk how to go about it

im not gonna just stay sitting around while my family member becomes a delusional d*** addicted bum
At least he's trying to make something out of himself, we're living in a time where working a regular 9 to 5 isn't needed like before.

he might need to make a minimum of $1000 month one day and nobody will help so he either becomes a full on bum or he gets his s*** together, it's only a matter of time
if you truly cared about him you'd realize just like every loser before him they eventually figure it out, most people naturally refuse to become homeless or dead lmaooo

also this
i firmly believe that wishing a 9-5 on your friends or family members because YOU feel it is good for them is definitely envy or jealousy regardless of their level of personal success, must be nice to just sit around right? lol
most 9-5 jobs will ruin the psyche of someone like him while providing stability which may not be worth it if you consider male suicide rates between ages 30-50 in western AND eastern societies

he gets like 10 views on his s*** and i doubt a single one of them sits through the whole thing, hes not exactly joe rogan getting hundred million dollar deals
that was real
hes been in and out of jail three times now, sad the way he gets caught up bc hes so dumb lmfao

can only bail him out before he has a 10 year sentence
so then when hes gone for 10 will you still think about him? or will you finally realize it's pointless wasted energy
not saying you are wrong for having the energy to care for others but i would say you would be wrong for wasting it after realizing you cant force the dude to change
time will tell

why u act like having a conversation with someone about their future is some huge time consuming effort

when did i mention time?
stop wasting your energy on him regardless of how much time is spent
you really think if you do nothing he will become homeless or die before he's 50?

homeless or dead or in jail, yes
dude having bad mental health is the tell
he needs therapy
and not to talk about his personal success or failures or his ideas or delusions with a judgemental character
he seems like someone who (in his late teens, early 20s) lost who they are and the delusion is them coping with and denying the fact that they are lost
and friends/family telling him he is lost or where he should go is more harmful than not
he needs professional therapy

I'd say encourage him to get a job while still doing the pod. Given his time in jail it seems like re-integrating back into society will be difficult and take time.
Only thing is the way you tell him will depend on what type of person he is, if he can't take it straight then you need to readjust your approach and be a bit more gentle.
good luck OP good to see you care
People just want to become famous nowadays because they think it's the "high status" but it isnt
It absolutely is.
Although there are a lot of competent, strong-willled people who happen to be narcissistic.
