Whats the backstory on their beef
They use to be cool, till nas did a show at central park and said randomly “who want real music not that 50 cent bullshit” nas was just hating on 50 at the time because 50 had the world in his hands

I would take a 50 career than a Nas career

cant lie this one of my fav nas songs this nigga went off on this song but these lines…
“Take 27 emcees, put 'em in a line and they're out of alignment
My assignment since he said retirement
Hiding behind 8 Mile and The Chronic
Gets rich but dies rhyming
This is high science
Now add 23 more from Queens to B-more
I'm over their heads like a bulimic on a seesaw
Now that's 50 porch monkeys ate up at the same time
Nasty Nasdaq, y'all gon' bow holmes, this Dow Jones”

Nas would murder 99 percent of emcees
Yes except jay elec wrote this verse lol

There is no way on earth jay sat there at wrote it for Nas, at most there would have been a collaborative line or two, when has Nas ever needed a ghostwriter ffs

All I know is there’s jay ref tracks for this album
Which is odd cause nas pen immaculate. I also doubt he wrote any kinda bars against 50

It's deeper than that homies. @thankmelater @Mac45
Nas was cool with 50 when 50 was still an underground rapper. He took him on tour for Nastradamus and everything was all good. There's an unreleased version of "Life's On The line" with a Nas diss but you could just chalk that up to 50 being a bit crazy / unpredictable or whatever.
50 had a song with J Lo that was supposed to come out. But around this time he gets shot and dropped / blacklisted by Colombia Records. Colombia / Epic replace his verse on the song with Nas'.
50 felt resentment towards Nas for this cuz they were supposed to be cool and he felt like Nas violated for agreeing to replace him on the song.
They say slick s*** back and forth in interviews and then Nas makes his remarks at the central park show and it goes from there.
I see both sides of the beef cuz at the end of the day Nas was just doing business. But I could see 50's side cuz it's like we're cool and you take food off my plate?
So idk
