Life Is Good was a better 4:44 before 4:44 real ones know Nas invented
Still enjoy 4:44 more though
one hot album every ten year average
99.9% of musicians wish they could have stats like that
Both are legends and GOAT's but let's put things into perspective here.
People keep talking about Hov being more "consistent" than Nas but I just don't see it.
Before 4:44, Hov wasn't viewed as a consistent rapper like that.
Also, Hov partly stayed relevant on the backs of other people: Kanye, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Samsung, etc.
Nas got a number 1 album in 2012 without a radio hit that was nominated for a Grammy(LIG).
I'm sure Jay will no doubt be remembered for than Nas but the question should be: What will he be remembered for compared to Nas?
Will Hov be seen as the better rapper/artist or will he be remembered as a rich mogul, Beyonce's husband, and Kanye's "big brother?"
Cause, if we're talking outside music, then Snoop Dogg and P Diddy will also be remembered more than Nas since Nas isn't a celebrity like that.
But, musically and rap wise, I feel it can go either way. Nas seems to embody hip hop more than Hov although Hov has sold more records.

Other than that late 2000s-early ‘10s period, Jay has pretty much vested Nas every time. Vol. 3 was better than Nastradamus, Blueprint was better than Stillmatic, The Black Album was better than God’s Son, American Gangster was better than Hip Hop is Dead, 4:44 was better than Nasir
Man y’all really be on here bored
This s*** is just funny to me man lmfao niggas really be like yo let me start a thread real quick and don’t even bother thinking twice about it you can just tell
Jay Z's place in the culture will outlast whatever albums the two decide to put out
exactlyyyyy unless he goes through a brutal divorce with beyonce and has all of his business endeavors go down the drain he's so much bigger than nas.
most of the time i mention Nas to the average person I have to say "the rapper nas" and they go "oh ok I've heard of him"

I think op mostly means the hip hop enthusiast perspective, not the average person one
And Jay's last good album was just him airing out his baggage
Crazy you say this cause Nas did the same with Life is Good. Make it make sense man

Nah 444 doesn’t have a summer on smash so it automatically wins this debate
Even without Beyoncé, Jay makes more waves than Nas lol. There’s no world where he gets looked upon more fondly by the majority unless Jay had an abuse case or something
