Nah I didn’t but Kendrick is definitely worse at it. Maybe Nas just has the charisma and mic presence to pull it off
Verse 1 of How Much a Dollar Cost is legitimately garbage. Nas on Fried Chicken>any Kendrick rap
Verse 1 on how much a dollar cost is trash ??
Ur wylin untitled isnt even that good

One of the worst set ups to a story song that I’ve ever heard. I spent so much time trying to figure out what he was saying, I probably listened to the first verse 10 times before the rest of the song
Nas is my goat but this is disrespectful to Kendrick.
It’s not even close. Just like it’s not close with any other (other than Doggystyle) in hip hop to Illmatic.

Because you’re slow 😂

A homeless nigga asking Kendrick for money was confusing

Dont do it bro 😂. He being intentionally difficult. If it took you more than one listen to catch that, then you must be illiterate.
Because you’re slow 😂
Saw this reply coming lol but no. Storytelling is supposed to paint the picture in your head and be easy enough to digest, like Biggie “Somebody’s Gotta Die”. Kendrick doesn’t do a good job in that first verse taking you into the scene, it’s weighed down by his attempts to be wordy and some of his phrasing is very awkward
TPAB only that high to people who started taking hip hop seriously as an art form after Trayvon Martin was killed
Kendrick’s ability to execute concept albums is unlike anything we’ve seen but the fact is the music itself ends up getting dragged down. He doesn’t have half the charisma that Nas has and sounds too much like he’s using a thesaurus at times
The music on TPAB to me is much more complex, rich and timeless than Untitled
A homeless nigga asking Kendrick for money was confusing
It’s everything that leads up to that, when the homeless man comes in is when it becomes coherent and good storytelling. But that’s like 10 bars in. Up until then it’s gibberish

He doesn’t to you. You are literally the only person that has ever mentioned that 😂

He was just setting it up, posing the questiong on how much a dollar cost, and then proceeding with how much money he attain for himself then he's at a gas station and a homeless asks him for money
I never saw it being confusing lol

Do you realize how s***ty of an argument that is lol? Yeah no s*** it’s my opinion. People have mentioned Kendrick be rappity rapping too much. That verse is just one of the worst examples to me where it really takes away from the point of the song. It doesn’t bother me as much when he’s just doing “the church I stepped the earth I crept reverse what’s left Fred Durst his breath”, that’s the more popular stuff to criticize but at least that’s just blatantly rapping to rap
20 on pump 6
Oh boy I wonder what Kendrick meant
African that spoke Zulu
He must be references aliens
Pulled up to a gas station
My car is electric what is that?
Parasites in his stomach?
He not hungry he infected lol
I mean it’s not even funny how far you guys go to discredit Kendrick.

I don’t care about your anecdotal experience. Lol.

“The liberal concept of what men’ll do” is peak Kendrick mad lib gibberish

Why you replying to it and disputing it then? You said you’ve never seen anyone else saying what I’ve said, that’s your anecdotal experience. The thread is asking for opinions

Kendrick can be unneccessary wordy and rap gibberish but this wasnt it.

Usually he stays away from it on his albums and it’s mostly features. But the times on albums where it bothers me is this and the terrible first few bars of Duckworth. I guess he just don’t know how to start a story
