Why is YB not more well known than he is? I always hear his streams are just behind Drake’s, and I am baffled that I feel like he’s still underground.
Does he just have a rabid fan base that streams his s*** like crazy? Is someone or something holding him back?
Someone educate me
If the rumours are true and nba young boy is signed to Motown records I can see his next run being bigger than michael jackson

That’ll definitely hurt him, but is that it? I heard he got blackballed at some point?

He’s one of the largest artists in America he just doesn’t get much radio play and he drops frequently so his mixtapes + albums get lost to artists who drop less frequently or have more structured rollouts.
But like outside that he’s actually huge it’s not a meme, if you’re under like 25 his music is everywhere if you follow ppl that listen to street rap
I’m sure initially (prob a decent bit) stream his music off YouTube apps cuz it’s free and thats where his demographic are strong at so there’s where the “you stream YB off your PS4” memes come from, but his dsp streams are still crazy.
As for why he’s not commercially bigger? I’m not sure tbh I mean he’s obviously huge for how far he’s come, but I think him having so many run-ins with the law + his release style plays the biggest part. Yeah you got the whole beef with Durk but hoenstly most of the big artists have made songs with YB they just closer with Durk publicly so I hoenstly don’t think the beef plays as big of a part as the ofher factors.
I think if he just stays out of trouble and put out a well crafted album with a nice rollout + some time w/o music from his fans he would do bigger numbers off his albums than before
That’s just my take tbh

I can assure you they are watching his success and desperately trying to recreate it for their own artists to no avail. YB is running laps around newcomers and competing with the likes of Drake, Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny with a fraction of their budget and bringing in just as many streams and revenue

That’s cool.
Honestly he reminds me of Thug a bit. The old adage of Thug selling 16k but going platinum in the streets, specifically.
Based on what I hear about him, if he does what you said, and focuses his energy on a really solid commercial album and pushes it hard enough, like Thug did with So Much Fun, he could break through.
I don’t know much about him, but I hope he does well
