Am i reading this right? They had to pay him $50m to fire him? Surely it’s not like footy release clauses where all the money has to be paid up front right…?
yeah, not all at once. usually takes years
money usually gets reduced if they take a new job though

8 million per year. Don’t think anyone gets the full check upfront.
Absolutely pitiful, emotionally-driven decision to let the mob get what they wanted
They will regret this
What would the justification have been for keeping him
lol
Was the writing not on the wall when he lost the single most winnable "big game" in his tenure as HC? Losing that game to Oregon, to me, meant that he was never going to win when it counted. Then he went and lost 2 absolute layup games to follow it up
Given his history, how are those results acceptable and what has/had he shown that would make you believe things were going to get any better?

Guy is like 4-50 vs top 10 teams. Sure it can get worse but not much

No, it’s paid over time. It’s why people like Jimbo can sit around and not do s***.
Adidas out here getting coaches fired?
Nike should do this with Stoops

Makes sense, it’s exactly like NBA coach buyouts
Not sure why I immediately thought of release clauses
Only 3 big bad SEC teams in the top 10 of SP+ and none in the top 4? 🤒

Usually Franklin could lose those games but still keep the recruits pouring in but apparently the recruits who showed up to homecoming was abysmal
Hard to save yourself when the fans are revolting, players aren’t trying, and the recruits are turning away
lol they took out the 30 day transfer rule same day Penn State fires their coach
Oklahoma State got hosed
Matt Rhule to Penn State
Scott Frost back to Nebraska
why would they fire james franklin to hire matt f***ing rhule
JUST REMEMBER AS IT RELATES TO JAMES FRANKLIN

It can be! And sometimes you have to take that risk and go to the other side of the street to find out!
