  • I had never heard of this film or the first one either until my girl put me on. It just released in the US last Friday, and we’ve already seen it twice so far, it’s genuinely amazing. Surprisingly heartfelt and touching. Didn’t see a thread on here for this yet so I figured one should be made. Definitely go check this one out!

China’s boxoffice is booming for 20+ years now and Hollywood’s grip on China has eased drastically since the pandemic. Looking at the production values of their films, this development is no surprise, just take a look at this film alone. And we have yet to see how the big western film bosses will tackle this situation.

Agree, Witnessed it for myself over there last year

There's no incentive to really care about U.S films in the same way anymore, especially as their domestic industry keeps booming. Unless it was like IMAX opening for Dune 2 or something family oriented like Wonka i don't recall that much fanfare or attendance for American films. Sat in pretty empty theaters a few times

Imo they still have a ways to go with consistent story/production quality but their domestic films do massive numbers and theaters are everywhere in China. They break their own domestic records annually almost
