So Wednesday I’m interviewing for a new job that would pay very well (at least by non-profit standards) but I’ve heard through the grapevine that it’s kind of s***ty and the CEO sucks.
Are there specific questions I can ask that might be revealing without being like “hey, does this place suck?”
Ask the interviewer how long they've been at the company, and what they like best about the company.
If they say "the people" then the work probably sucks lmfao
How small is the company? Saying the “CEO sucks” kind of implies mfs know him personally or some s*** lol

It’s pretty big for a non-profit. Has like 8 different program departments with like 5-10 staff for each thing. I’d be joining a staff of 5.
OK perfect I actually have the exact same experience as you. Just basically asked questions about the culture relevant to the complaints that you’ve heard.
Like my main fear at this company was that I heard the CEO Was toxic with new employees and managing expectations so I asked “what do you expect from a new employee in their first month with this company“ To gauge if these expectations were realistic for me

That.is.perfect. Thank you!
Look up STAR method to answer questions. Most of them will be probably behavioral which would fall directly in line with this template. Good luck OP

“Why do you want this job”
“Well I’ve always been a fan of this company and growing up I always wanted to be apart of this team”
