Okay past couple of months I’ve been really struggling to find a pair of well fitting black bootcut jeans. Modern Levi’s 517s fit horrible imo, the rise is super small and they squeeze tf outta my crotch. Vintage Levi’s 517s fit fantastic, high waisted and perfect bootcut shape.

I’ve found plenty of blue vintage Levi’s 517s but it’s pretty tough to find a black pair with the proper vintage fit. I actually sniped one pair in black on eBay but they inexplicably had a more tapered fit (wrangler cowboy cut vibes)

All this to say I do need to buy a pair of new denim cause vintage isn’t working out but i absolutely cannot find a pair that works. Acne has some but don’t wanna spend $600+ for no reason

Best option I’ve found is the Kapital Japan web shop via a proxy shipping service but the bootcut pairs are basically always out of stock

Any suggestions? I want denim specifically so wrangler wranchers won’t work

I ended up copping the new Bare Knuckles Serge jeans. I am not a fan of YouTube brands but these jeans are great and probably have the closest fit to an 80s Levi’s 517 (high rise etc). I tried everything from modern Levi’s 517s to Acne and I liked these jeans the best.

The flare is a little bigger than I like but it looks good overall. if you’re not tall it’s gonna look crazy at the default inseam so definitely get it hemmed.
