what’s the best ny? the grunge godfather or the folky country boy?
mannnn that's so f***ing hard. this is why i sometimes favor Neil over Dylan, he was versatile when it came to making rock songs and folk songs. Rust Never Sleeps is my favorite record, which funny enough splits in half the acoustic and electric tracks
what have you listened to
I never started, which albums are a must/essentials?
interesting picks!
if we going the deep cuts here’s some criminally underrated ones
did NY birthed daft punk with this? ^ 🤔🤔
even sonic youth covered a song from that album
and i LOVE this ofc as a big doowop stan, wish he had done some more like this:

oh man well you’re op of nick drake so id suggest to start with his more folky country side
most will tell you harvest and that’s fair, it’s his hit album and a classic most influential
here’s a great cover i love of that song by the late charles bradley, miss him
maybe after that go with after the goldrush - it was one of the first i started with bc of the radiohead cover lol

for me personally, i'd recommend After the Gold Rush or Harvest as an entry point. you may or may not recognize some of the songs on those albums and you get a good idea of what neil's all about with the electric/acoustic tracks
trans is a really underrated album
he really tried something
is it true it was made for his kid that has some like hearing issues? i remember reading about this but idk if it’s a made up myth
