I mean not really because Jesus is King was 2019 and that was the most peaceful Kanye year was of that whole period

And the breakdown on tour happened way after Pablo came out

JIK an outlier and he had few small controversies like the slave nets thing at howard

And the breakdown still happened in 2016 lol

It’s so weird seeing people complain about Coodie talking about his life in the doc. It’s almost like they don’t understand what this doc is

  • Mar 3, 2022

This last act sad to watch

He seemed to be in a really bad space 2017-2020. This DONDA era feels like the most “normal” he’s been in a long time. Probably since Pablo

I mean how normal is normal with him he’s still very much being scrutinized by the public daily

I just hope we one day see a grounded kanye again man

Man… this s*** was just sad as f*** to watch. Our brother Kanye is lost and confused. 2019 on the dude is just rambling and speaking absolute nonsense while surrounded by yes men who just nod their heads and say yes to everything. This is just sad to see.

I know we didn’t see 2021 Donda era so I hope he is better but man… it just did not seem right seeing all this footage

He is, but he doesn’t seem “crazy”

Honestly which this took more of a Cherry Bomb documentary approach. Keep some of the extra s*** but also have a lot more recording/Kanye explaining how he thought of ideas for some of the beats and lyrics. We don't need to see them celebrating New Years Day 2004

Sounds boring. That’s not a story. A great documentary needs to tell a story

It was 9 months after Pablo came out. To say it was for an album makes no sense because he had no forthcoming album at the time and his previous album had been out for almost a year

I kinda wish they waited a while longer to release this. Kanye’s career was damn near over in 2020. Everyone who grew up on his work stuck around, but we all knew it was looking pretty bad.

The divorce seems like it sparked a fire in him. He seems healthier and happier than I’ve seen him in a long time, even with all of the IG rants and stuff. Donda felt like a return to form, and since mid 2021 it felt like Kanye has been running the culture again like were used to.

But anyway, I felt like ending it in 2020 was a mistake. It felt like the doc ended with Kanye being a washed up artist with crippling mental health issues. That may have been beginning to be the case at the time, but since then it seems like he’s started to find himself again. I wish they waited an extra year to even get an extra 20 minutes or so of the Donda/Donda 2 redemption arc, as well as touched on the divorce a little bit

Man this s*** has been over 20 years in the making, how tf they gonna predict the future and decide the perfect time to end the documentary. It’s a good stopping point, we all know what’s been happening since that first Donda LP

Coodie was ready to beat ye’s ass for calling him chike

it’s funny though because it turned from a genuinely drunk mess up, to him f***ing with Coodie, then to him closing it with a rather kind gesture to Coodie and channel 0. i think as coodie said though it was also symbolic of him not being in the immediate circle anymore

  • Mar 3, 2022

    still processing this last episode

some of the conversations felt way too personal to be shown

but he did a good job showing that Kanye in private is exactly the same person we get in public

The doc confirmed two narratives about Kanye in one:

    1. Kanye is the same now that he’s been from the start, there is no “Old Kanye” and “New Kanye” he’s always had a vision for his future and will go against the grain to reach his goals.

    2. Kanye is a f***ing mess mentally after Donda passed and uses music, politics, etc. to mask the pain he’s very clearly been in since.
