biggest question I have with modern Ye is his seemingly constant need for validation. he watched that entire Tucker clip just for a sense of validation. why does he still need it man. his own validation should be all he is looking for.
in regards to the content of act 3 evrytime the showed any music related film that s*** immediately kept my spirts alive.
part of me hates how much i stan this guy. i cant help myself. music did so much for me since 2004. but im done defending him but im also done letting everyone come to me as if im his mf local PR team. all im saying is thats crazy and still gonna enjoy the parts of ye that are enjoyable with no judgement
to me this doc showed exactly why I love him and I hope that some of my friends who don't quite understand my level of devotion can watch this and see him as a flawed and compelling human being who is truly an artistic genius
I've never been the guy to just blindly defend and support everything Kanye says and does but I will always say that I'm never going to turn my back and denounce the man unless he does some truly heinous violent s*** or something. he can say and do things I disagree with and I truly look at it like my own brother did it. which I know is crazy bc I don't know this man but like you his art and his inspiration has done so much for me for over half of my entire lifetime now. I'm not scared to say he's my idol, even though it might sometimes be embarrassing.
for sure. again from coodie's perspective, it seemed that kanye started acting "hollywood" and they grew distant cause of that. like look at the grammy's after party where ye forgets his name 3 times. i'd definitely be tight about that
yea it seemed like ye was doing on purpose but again he was off the hendawg.
felt like i needed therapy after that episode so i came on here lmao

ill say the third time ye did it, he did it on purpose. in terms of therapy, i lost my mom recently so i get it. that last episode was hard on me
Watching this made me really appreciate how fun the Pablo era. Freshman year of college, seeing the listening party at the theater with my roommate at the time. Good times
If I had to sum up the finale, I guess the way I would is that what does a guy whoās hit the glass ceiling on life itself feel like. Like it seems larger than life and the stakes are constantly life or death in his mind, which can be extremely excruciating I imagine. Especially when heās not necessarily comfortable or at complete peace with the life he has built around him and hasnāt taken time to ever really let things settle. Life is a nonstop marathon for him, for better or worse. Itās difficult to read into a lot bc weāre only getting glimpses in and out of Kanyeās world in the finale. But it did leave me overall sympathetic for him.
Does seem like being creative is therapy for him and I donāt think that was explored enough in the finale.
finally someone makes a fair point re: the lack of footage from 2007-2015
it's def worth keeping in mind that we're all Stans and not only are we intimately familiar with the music from that time period but also probably a ton of the interviews and other s*** that was going on, so even though it glosses over it (by necessity, I'll remind), we are able to somewhat fill in that gap with our own prior knowledge going into the final leg of the doc. but casual fans or people watching this with no knowledge will be missing some p important context for his actual importance to music and culture. this is a good point.
I agree still 9/10 tho

For someone who claims he doesnāt care what people think, he very much cares what people think
Part 3 was the weakest imo, lots of rambling and circling around the same things over and over, though there were some good moments still.

āModern Yeā
How do you know he wasnāt always searching for validation throughout his career? There may have been plenty of other times, but the fact it was Tucker Carlson made Coodie want to include it.
Itās a human nature thing to seek validation & approval, nothing wrong with that. Everyone wants to fit in
Act 3 unfortunately felt like a true Netflix experience. Overall, great docu series tho. Chike did his thing

i know he's always has. we see it in the early part of Doc with Roc-A-Fella and Jay proving to people he can be a rapper not just producer. and looking for validation is not bad all the time, as you said it's human nature. i think the larger issue is constantly looking for it, and not hearing out the other side that maybe is trying to invalidate you, for good or bad reasons. there are certain points in, i guess you can call it the validation process, where no one but yourself can validate something. you can constantly run to person to person looking for them to agree with and validate your thinking until you find someone that does, but I think often times that is a dangerous game and when one has to reach their own internal point of confirmation, or come to a change of heart.
They say because of the fame & stardom Iām somewhere in between the church & insane asylum - Kanye 2005
act 3 was a tough watch for me. not necessarilly because of the politics, although it was uncomfortable. But it seemed as if ye was/is hurtin so much. when hes talking to his dad i sense resenment towards him and a yearning for his dad just to converse and entertain him teh way his mother did does.
that convo in DR with the 2 guys. "man you should put a church out there" sounds like to people just trying to find a way to spend his money one way so they can use him another way.
ye feels like a big ass kid and i dont mean that as a negative. im glad coodie was brought back in the fold. im hoping he can stay around and the likes of rhymfest him etc. can be his link to stay a little grounded. i also respect coodie not filming him on one of his rants thats real nigga s***. if anyone else was filming who really didnt know ye since 17 wouldve filmed and had more footage to exploit.
in short: act 3 showing THAT PHASE was sad to me. something about it made it seem as though his environemnt arent as soulful(music aside) as they used to be.
Well said
Act 3 is sad af
Seeing ye fly to some other state in a middle of a personal crisis just to look at bowls of some random Chinese lady was very weird .

also having no footage of Be is insane imo
like it made the common reunion not as powerful cause it didnāt cover any of their work together
So what
Yall wanted him to just lie anc dress it up to make it real for yall?
you negative about everything man lol jeez
he went from being around kanye regularly to no contact for 15 years, he could only 'dress up' what he could cause he didnt have s*** to work with and hardly knows kanye anymore
Part 3 was the weakest imo, lots of rambling and circling around the same things over and over, though there were some good moments still.
agree, kind of felt like they dragged the mental health stuff just a tad letting some of the clips go on for too long. pacing felt off
What was Jamieās story?
