Based on Leigh Bardugo's worldwide bestselling Grishaverse novels, Shadow and Bone finds us in a war-torn world where lowly soldier and orphan Alina Starkov has just unleashed an extraordinary power that could be the key to setting her country free. With the monstrous threat of the Shadow Fold looming, Alina is torn from everything she knows to train as part of an elite army of magical soldiers known as Grisha. But as she struggles to hone her power, she finds that allies and enemies can be one and the same and that nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. There are dangerous forces at play, including a crew of charismatic criminals, and it will take more than magic to survive.
Main Cast
Halfway into the 1st episode and no this is not good at all.
Generic themes, forced diversity, awkward dialogue and acting from a btec cast. Basically your typical Netflix original made for teenagers that have nothing better to do. Stay away from this bs.

That's the vibe I got from the trailer. Wonder why its getting such good reviews...
I liked it tbh
One of the more decent fantasy shows in the post GoT world
The characters are a bit meh, but I think the lore is pretty interesting tbh
Okay, I watched the first episode and I actually liked it. Can’t lie, the lore pulled me in. I’m a sucker for that kinda stuff

1st episode is the worst episode - it's pretty entertaining after that.
This was pretty underwhelming. The concept and world was interesting at first, but once they explained it all, it felt kinda shallow. The side story with Nina was soooo damn generic and felt worse than anything that’s on The CW. The characters in the show are already generic enough, but that was over the top. Plus didn’t help that they were bad actors.
Would’ve liked to see a greater showcase of the Grisha powers. Probably outside of their budget I guess Idk if I’d watch s2 of this. Maybe if I had nothing else going on. I hope their live action Avatar series isn’t on a similar scale to this. This story would’ve been better animated I think.

Yeah I agree 100%. Started out pretty good with interesting (if generic) lore/world building, but this s*** fell apart super quickly. Yeah, I'm not even gon finish this.
Okay Episode 2 was super meh. Idk, I'm also watching The Wire and it's low-key ruining this show for me
This got insanely generic, I mean I get it's based off YA, but damn
And the VFX is trash
